Meditation- relaxation breathing

 

Lie, or sit up straight, do not arch your back and take a deep                                                                   breath in and slowly let itHypnotherapy_Gold_Coast_Meditation_-_Relaxtion_Breathing out through your mouth. Then breathe in again but this time, imagine that you are breathing through your heart (see a nose there on your heart if it helps) and then breathe slowly out through your mouth. Do this 3 more times and feel yourself relax.

Now place your hands on your stomach and as you can continue to breathe in, focus your mind on your stomach, feeling the rise and fall with every breath that you take. Don't force the breath out, let it release gently and slowly. As you continue to focus in this way, keep your mind on  the movement of your stomach and allow yourself to relax. Let go.

After a few minutes and as you continue to relax, switch your focus to your breathing and feel your breath as you breathe in and out. Follow the feeling of the breath, focus on the gentle movement and rhythm as you inhale and exhale.

 

Continue in this way, gently, easily, no rush; just allow yourself to relax, unwind by focusing your mind on your breathing and the movement of your breath. As you continue to follow your breath, imagine that you are your breath. Imagine that you are flowing in and out, flowing in and out, flowing in and out..., gently, easily, gently, easily, gently, easily.

Feel your body relaxing. Feel each muscle relax. Feel your mind unwinding, calming, soothing.

As you relax more, start to count down from 10 to 1, slowly, rhythmically and each time you count down one number, feel your self relaxing even more as your mind begins to associate  each count down with a wonderful, soothing, safe, comfortable feeling.

Now scan your body for any areas that may still feel a little tense and as you find any area that has not yet relaxed, imagine breathing into that area until all tension has gone and that area is  relaxed.

Now repeat the count down from 10-1, relaxing even more this time and once again scan your body for any parts not yet relaxed. Repeat the process of counting down and scanning, until all parts of your body feel still, warm and relaxed.

When you have reached this point, stay with the breathing and feelings for as long as you like and when you feel that you are ready to stop, count yourself up from 1 to 10 feeling more and more energised as you do.

  

If you want to practice this before going to sleep, then do not count your self up, instead, imagine yourself falling into a very deep, sound sleep and see yourself waking in the morning feeling refreshed, wide awake and full of energy and enthusiasm for the new day.
